The independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after centuries of integration into different social and state solutions, enabled new research and different views on the issues of autonomous and autochthonous culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina and music culture, so at the end of the 20th century, research on music in B&H intensified. The aim of this paper is to present the main guidelines of the development path of music culture in B&H and to point out its continuity regardless of the assumptions of its discontinuity. The question of the place and importance of culture and music culture is essential in every society, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, although in the overall social context, especially in the current economic and other circumstances in B&H, culture and music culture are not given adequate attention. The historical and comparative method of researching the problems of music culture development in B&H presents the most important developmental characteristics and points to a certain continuity of development of Bosnian music culture as part of the overall cultural heritage which is often unfairly on the margins of Bosnian culture of living.
